According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have held talks over a deal to sign Corinthians teenager Rodrigo Varanda.
It’s claimed that Spurs have been watching Varanda for some time now, and scouts have recommended a move for the winger.
Spurs are believed to be in talks to sign Varanda for around £8.5milion, in the hope of securing a deal in advance of the summer transfer window.
Varanda is out of contract at Corinthians in January 2022, meaning he can hold pre-contract talks in August, but Spurs are moving to get him snapped up early.
Varanda’s representatives are believed to be getting together the right paperwork for the teenager to play in England, with Brexit of course a factor.
The 18-year-old has played 10 games for Corinthians, bagging one goal and one assist whilst attracting interest from Tottenham.
Varanda has shown his versatility with Corinthians, playing on both flanks as well as featuring as a striker, and he also has a couple of caps for Brazil’s Under-16’s.

An easy comparison may be to Arsenal ace Gabriel Martinelli, another versatile Brazilian attacker who made the move to North London.
Martinelli quickly became an Arsenal first-team favourite following his 2019 move, and Varanda’s goal would be to make a similar impact to Martinelli.
If Spurs can find the next Martinelli for around £8.5million, that would be a smart move for the future, potentially adding a talented attacker as Son Heung-min and Harry Kane edge towards their 30’s.
