According to Catalan newspaper SPORT, Tottenham Hotspur opened talks about a deal for Barcelona winger Malcom, with a loan-to-buy move in the pipeline.

Spurs are in the market for a new forward before the transfer deadline, as they saw Harry Kane suffer an ankle ligament injury against Manchester United on Sunday.

Kane is out for two months, whilst Son Heung-min has jetted off to the Asian Cup with South Korea, meaning Spurs are desperately short in attack.

Now, SPORT claim that Spurs made contact with Barcelona about signing Malcom on Wednesday, with the terms being thrashed out by the two clubs.

It’s stated that Spurs would take Malcom on loan and then be forced to purchase him at the end of the season, with a compulsory buyout clause in the deal.

That may be something of a risk for Spurs, as Malcom could flop in England and then be stuck at Spurs, but may also prevent any other clubs swooping in if he impresses.

Malcom, 21, joined Barca form Bordeaux this past summer, having starred in France with 12 goals and seven assists to his name, but his time in Catalunya has been dismal so far.

The Brazilian has been ostracised by manager Ernesto Valverde, starting just one La Liga game and totalling 97 minutes in the league, sparking rumours of an exit.

Spurs may now be the team to rescue Malcom from his Camp Nou hell in what could be a hugely exciting move if he can recapture his Bordeaux form, though Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande are also thought to be interested in a permanent deal.
