Tottenham Hotspur and three Italian clubs have reportedly been offered a chance to sign Joachim Andersen after Arsenal were priced out of a move for him.
The report says that Serie A sides Napoli, Juventus and AC Milan have also been offered a chance to sign the 23-year-old Danish defender who has been in fine form for Sampdoria this season. Andersen is expected to cost a whopping £31.2 million this summer, a sum which has apparently dented Arsenal’s hopes of signing him.
Arsenal’s loss could well prove to be Tottenham’s gain and Andersen would be a brilliant fit under Mauricio Pochettino next season. Spurs are at the risk of losing their star centre-half Toby Alderweireld who is available for any club for just £25 million this summer thanks to a clause in his contract.
The Belgian has been a key part of Tottenham’s side over the last few years and losing him would be a huge blow. Jan Vertonghen is also on the wrong side of 30 which leaves the North Londoners with just Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth as their two recognised central defenders.
Spurs will need to bring in a new defender in the summer to continue their progress under Pochettino and Andersen is one who should be seriously considered. The Dane played 32 times for Sampdoria in the Italian top-flight last season and was really impressive.
A colossal figure standing at six feet four inches tall, Andersen’s physical attributes would help him adapt to the physicality of the Premier League with considerable ease and Tottenham would have a real gem on their hands if they manage to complete a deal for him in the coming weeks.
