Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been offered Dries Mertens.

According to Area Napoli, Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the services of Dries Mertens.
The 31-year-old striker, whose contract expires in two years, has been linked with a move away from Napoli this summer, with Roma reportedly among the suitors.
However, Area Napoli reports that the Belgian hitman’s representatives have offered Tottenham the chance to sign him this summer.
The publication adds that Spurs would “guarantee” a salary of around £3.5 million per year – which equates to around £67,000 a week – and that the Italian giants wouldn’t accept anything less than £44.4 million for their marksman.

But the report goes on to claim that Mertens would “gladly” reunite with Chelsea-bound Maurizio Sarri in West London, if the Blues fail to sign Gonzalo Higuain.
Should Poch go for it?
If true, Tottenham should certainly accept.
Mauricio Pochettino badly needs a brilliant plan-b option to Harry Kane and the likes of Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen simply haven’t cut the mustard in recent seasons.
But Mertens, who scored 18 goals in 35 Serie A starts last summer, is a different animal and Pochettino could finally find the cover for Kane that he’s been searching for since 2015.
