According to a report in The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur have offered a new contract to first-choice goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The Frenchman had recently been linked with a move away from north London, with Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG side strongly linked with a move for the glovesman, but it seems as though Spurs are keen to keep hold of their star.

It should come as no surprise that Tottenham want Lloris to stay, after all, he is the club captain and Jose Mourinho recently hailed him as ‘the best in the Premier League’.

Spurs seem to be on the ball when it comes to tying their best players down to new contracts at the moment, with Heung-min Son also reportedly set to sign a new deal in the coming weeks.

Whether or not Lloris accepts this new contract offer remains to be seen, but with Alasdair Gold recently claiming that Lloris won’t be on the move anytime soon, it does seem as though he may end up staying at Spurs.

This would probably be as good as any new signing as Lloris has again proven himself to be one of the best goalkeepers in Europe this season, producing a string of solid performances throughout this campaign.

Fingers crossed Lloris puts pen to paper sooner rather than later.
