According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have been offered the chance to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth.
It’s claimed that Barca have been in contact about Spurs midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, but have also been handed the opportunity to sign Foyth.
Barca allegedly see this as a complicated proposal. That’s because Foyth showed promise under Mauricio Pochettino, but has been cast aside since Jose Mourinho’s arrival.
Barcelona therefore have to figure out what they would actually be getting. Is it a ball-playing defender with potential to develop and the ability to play at both centre back and right back? Or is it a defender who has made a few clumsy errors in his time and has been deemed unsuitable by a strong defensive coach in Mourinho?
Mourinho allegedly wants ‘another type’ of defender, meaning he’s prepared to axe Foyth to find somebody who suits his style better.

River Plate and Boca Juniors want to sign Foyth, three years since he left Estudiantes. A move back to Argentina may be appealing, with the 22-year-old needing playing time.
Players don’t often get the chance to join Barcelona though. If the bright lights of the Camp Nou come calling, who could blame him for trading in the Spurs bench?
Tottenham may hope that Foyth goes, freeing up room for the new defender Mourinho wants. The ball is now in Barcelona’s court, with plenty of time to make a decision on the player Pochettino suggested was ‘clever’, ‘quality’ and ‘has a lot of potential’ in 2018.
