The Spurs academy midfielder and England Under-17 World Cup winner was named in Tuttosport’s Golden Boy 2019 list.
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Tashan Oakley-Boothe has emerged as a transfer target for Championship side Swansea City, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
The 19-year-old midfielder was a key member of Steve Cooper’s England Under-17s squad which won the U17 World Cup two years ago and had also reached the finals of the European Championships.
However, Oakley-Boothe has found game time hard to come by at Spurs – indeed, he has made just one first-team appearance, coming off the bench late on against Barnsley in the EFL Cup (Transfermarkt).
With Cooper now in charge of the Swans, the Daily Mail report says he is keen on a reunion with the player, though it does not specify whether it would be a loan move or a permanent switch to the Liberty Stadium.
The Lambeth-born ace, who joined the Tottenham academy in 2017, has been impressive for the Under-23s and was recently named in Tuttosport’s list of the 100 best talents in Europe aged 21 and under – the Golden Boy 2019 awards.
Several of Oakley-Boothe’s fellow U17 World Cup winners – Jadon Sancho, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Phil Foden – have made their breakthroughs at senior level since the triumph in India.
With his contract at Spurs lasting until 2021 (Transfermarkt) and having had little first-team action so far, the youngster is arguably at a crossroads going into 2019-20 – does he stay put at the club and fight for a first-team place, does he test himself out on loan, or does he push for a permanent move away?
