Tottenham Hotspur could well look to bring in a new manager in the coming days.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs will make a decision on Antonio Conte’s future this evening.

Conte took ‘brutally honest’ to a new level last weekend after Tottenham’s draw with Southampton.

Conte called a number of his stars “selfish” and claimed they are afraid of playing under pressure.

He also appeared to criticise the club’s ownership as he questioned the success under the current regime.

Speculation over Conte’s potential successor has been doing the rounds in recent days.

Now, a new name appears to have entered the fray.

According to The Guardian, Burnley’s Vincent Kompany is “of interest” to Tottenham.

The 36-year-old has worked wonders at the Championship side, steering them to the brink of promotion.

Kompany has also transformed their playing style, turning them into what some have deemed ‘Man City-lite’.

The Belgian has finally found his feet after a mixed record as manager of Anderlecht.

Prior to embarking on his managing career, Kompany enjoyed a fruitful career at Manchester City.

He captained both the Etihad Stadium side and Belgium, earning plaudits from fans and peers.

Tottenham cult hero Jan Vertonghen said of Kompany in 2014, as per the Irish Times: “Vincent is a natural-born leader.

“He’s the leader on and off the pitch. That’s how everyone sees him.

“He’s not fake. He’s like the father of the team, taking care of everything and everyone.”

Too soon?

Kompany certainly seems like a good shout for Spurs.

His efforts with Burnley have been remarkable, showing his talent and potential.

At the same time, his relative lack of experience could count against him at Tottenham.

And arguably the biggest issue would be – why would he leave Burnley so soon?

If he’s taking them up into the Premier League, it’s more logical for him to stay there and see what he can do in a more familiar environment.
