According to the Daily Star (28/02, p45), Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to wrap up a move for Velje striker Wahid Faghir.
It’s claimed that Leicester City have already failed with a £1million bid, and Tottenham now want to swoop in and ‘move quickly’.
The report notes that Faghir has been described as ‘the new Zlatan Ibrahimovic’, with interest in the 17-year-old understandably mounting off the back of that comparison.
Faghir has already played 36 first-team games for Velje, racking up eight goals and four assists, whilst he’s already a Danish Under-21 international.
There are high hopes for Faghir, who has been picked out as one to watch at the current Under-21 European Championships in Hungary and Slovenia.
Tottenham may well be casting an eye on Faghir over there, and he could face Iceland’s Under-21’s this afternoon.

Christian Eriksen became a star at Spurs and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is a current favourite there too, so there is plenty of inspiration for a young Danish player if Tottenham come calling.
Add in that Jose Mourinho worked with Ibrahimovic at Inter Milan and Manchester United, and Faghir may well believe he can truly become the new Zlatan with a move to North London.
