Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are now reportedly trying to sign Micky van de Ven, a player Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have also been linked with.

Tottenham Hotspur keen on Arsenal-linked Micky van de Ven

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter this morning that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Micky van de Ven from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer transfer window.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Tottenham have already held talks with the agents of Van de Ven.

Spurs have the VfL Wolfsburg centre-back on their shortlist, according to Romano.

Interestingly, Arsenal have also been linked with Van de Ven.

In March, Bild journalist Christian Falk told CaughtOffSide that Arsenal were among the clubs who were scouting the young Dutch defender.

Falk wrote in CaughtOffSide: “The player is talented and very fast for a centre-back – 35.9km per hour; that’s really quick for such a player.

“He has a contract until 2027 and no release clause but Wolfsburg would be prepared to talk if they received an offer of €30m (£26m).

“The player himself has said he has no problem with staying another year but has also mentioned he’s open for a switch to Spain and the Premier League. So he’s already thinking about his future.

“Many clubs are scouting him at the moment, it’s a really long list; Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Roma, AC Milan… so you see, he’s a very attractive option.”

Good signing for Spurs?

In our opinion, Micky van de Ven would be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

Falk’s comments on the defender show just how good the Dutchman is.

And he is still only 22.

That the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool scouted him last season indicates that he is highly rated in the footballing community.

Van de Ven made 33 appearances in the Bundesliga for VfL Wolfsburg last season.

The defender scored one goal and gave one assist in those games.

While Van de Ven played predominantly as a centre-back, he did play four league games last season as a left-back.
