Tottenham Hotspur have found themselves back in the Premier League title race.

Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat by Southampton this week has blown the door wide open and suddenly Spurs, who are four points behind with a game in hand, have a chance again.

But you get the feeling that a good January transfer window could shape how Jose Mourinho’s side perform during the second half of the campaign.

And if rumours are believed, they have already began talks about signing one player.

According to Foot Mercato, Tottenham are negotiating with Inter Milan about bringing Ivan Perisic to North London on a half-season loan.

The report adds that Mourinho is personally a big fan of the £120,000-a-week winger, who has found first-team football hard to come by this season.

Only nine of Perisic’s 15 Serie A appearances have been from the start and Spurs are apparently keen.

Scoring goals hasn’t been a big problem for the North Londoners, but Steven Bergwijn, Mourinho’s first-choice option for the left side of attack, has struggled in front of goal and perhaps the Portuguese is looking for someone that bit more ruthless and experienced.
