Tottenham Hotspur are now in talks to sign Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet permanently in a deal worth around £12.3million.
Tottenham are in a real mess right now; no manager, a captain whose future is unclear and a director of football banned from doing his job.
That isn’t stopping rumours about the summer transfer window though and a deal for Lenglet may yet be in the pipeline.
That’s according to Catalan newspaper SPORT, who claim that Tottenham and Barcelona are in talks over a permanent deal.
The fee would be €14million, which works out to around £12.3million.
It’s stated that Tottenham have ‘excellent’ reports on Lenglet as a player and as a person following his loan spell this season.
Barcelona are willing to sell Lenglet, fully aware that they need to raise a hefty sum of cash before June 30th.
Lenglet’s exit could help that cause and Tottenham seem willing to do a deal.
This would be a major financial loss for Barcelona though, having forked out around £35million on Lenglet in 2018.

Tottenham can do better than Clement Lenglet
This one just doesn’t make sense to us.
Lenglet hasn’t set the world alight at Tottenham either as a left-sided centre back or in the middle of a back three.
Spurs need better competition for Eric Dier in the middle and a quality left-sided defender with a turn of pace and ability to play out from the back.
Lenglet just hasn’t shown that he can be a long-term solution for Tottenham and if Spurs have real ambitions of moving forward, they simply need better than the Frenchman.
Then we come to the organisational part of the move.
Would Tottenham really go ahead with a cash deal for Lenglet before even knowing who their next manager is?
That seems unlikely; there would be a chance of a new boss simply not rating Lenglet, making him another waste of money.
Additionally, Fabio Paratici can’t even conduct his role at Tottenham right now so we can’t see Spurs advancing talks on any signing – especially not a loanee who hasn’t even impressed that much.
