According to BILD, Tottenham are now interested in Florian Wirtz, who is also a target for Liverpool and Newcastle.

What’s the story?

Well, the 18-year-old is currently among the best players in Europe, and it’s no wonder that Spurs, Newcastle and the Reds are keen.

Wirtz has scored six goals in 12 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen this season, while also providing six assists.

Impressively, he has also amassed four caps for Germany, despite his age.

BILD claim that Wirtz is valued at €100m (£84m), and has a huge contract at Bayer Leverkusen which runs until June 2026.

Clearly, the German outfit will hold plenty of power when it comes to sitting down at the negotiating table.

If you’re wondering what type of player Wirtz is, the Bundesliga likened him to Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.

With their new stadium, and amazing facilities at Hotspur Way, Tottenham are an attractive club with a fairly strong pulling power, in our view.

However, they will surely need more than that to fend off Newcastle and Liverpool, who seem better placed to sign Wirtz.

BILD even believe that the Reds are trying to build a relationship with the wonderkid’s parents, in a bid to beat competition.

In Newcastle’s case, the Magpies are now the richest club on the planet after the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia took over.

In that respect, matching Wirtz’s £84m valuation surely won’t be an issue.

Keep an eye on this saga, as we expect many top-flight clubs to be falling over themselves to sign this phenomenon in 2022.
