According to The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur are confident of signing Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
It’s claimed that Spurs have now held talks with Southampton about signing Hojbjerg, and he is now expected to join Tottenham.
Everton had succeeded with a £25million bid for Hojbjerg, and it looked like the Dane would be heading to Goodison Park.
However, Hojbjerg has made it clear that he wants to join Tottenham instead, and Everton are now considering the bold decision of withdrawing their offer altogether.
The Toffees have seemingly heard enough from Hojbjerg and realise that he only wants Spurs, so they’re not even going to bother being his backup option.
Few Everton fans would blame the club for backing away, but it’s somewhat surprising that they’re considering pulling out completely when Spurs are some way from agreeing a deal.

The 24-year-old has been picked out by Jose Mourinho become Tottenham’s new holding midfielder, and an exit looks very likely with just a year left on his contract.
Tottenham still don’t want to pay the £25million Everton agreed, and want to try and drive that price down given that Hojbjerg is set on joining them – but with Kyle Walker-Peters not being included in the deal, it’s unclear just how much Tottenham can actually pay.
