Tottenham Hotspur want to reduce the permanent fee for Juventus loanee Dejan Kulusevski down to £25million.
Tottenham Hotspur now want a discount of just £4.2million on loan winger Dejan Kulusevski this summer.
That is according to London World reporter Rahman Osman, who claims that Spurs have held talks with Juventus about Kulusevski’s future.
It’s claimed that the purchase option in Kulusevski’s loan deal at Tottenham stands at around £29.2million.
However, Tottenham are now trying to negotiate that fee down to around £25million, seeking a discount of just £4.2million.
That isn’t quite as hefty as the ‘large discount’ Gazzetta dello Sport were reporting last weekend.
In fact, it’s a difference in price so small that some Tottenham fans may wonder why Spurs are haggling over just £4million.
Tottenham did have an obligation to buy Kulusevski, but that hinged on qualifying for the Champions League.
Spurs missed out on the top four, meaning the obligation to buy became an option, yet Tottenham are still trying to negotiate a discount.
Kulusevski endured a tricky season but missing out for the sake of £4million would be hard to swallow.

Tottenham may risk missing out on Dejan Kulusevski
This is one of a number of issues at Tottenham that need clarity.
The futures of Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane spring to mind, whilst another loanee – Clement Lenglet – must have his future resolved.
Ange Postecoglou’s arrival will hopefully help matters and Tottenham will be hoping for a decision on Kulusevski soon enough.
Kulusevski seems happy at Tottenham and there is at least interest from Spurs in a permanent deal, even if cheaper than they wanted.
There is a lingering threat though and it comes from Newcastle United.
Football Transfers reported earlier in June that Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe likes Kulusevski and wants to sign him.
Tottenham really do risk losing Kulusevski if they don’t make progress in talks with Juventus and the Magpies may not have qualms about paying £29million to make a deal happen.
