Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Feyenoord boss Arne Slot but will face paying a Dutch record to lure him to North London.
Spurs are looking far and wide for their next manager after parting ways with Antonio Conte in March.
Names like Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique sound unlikely to join Tottenham now, leaving Daniel Levy and co to consider other options.
One of them is Feyenoord boss Slot, who is on Tottenham’s wish list according to claims from The Times in March.
The Independent have even added this week that Tottenham have been testing Slot’s interest in the job before making an official approach.
It seems Tottenham’s interest in Slot is very real after Leeds failed to secure the Dutchman after sacking Jesse Marsch.
Tottenham face high price for Arne Slot
Tottenham may now run into a big problem when it comes to targeting Slot though.
It had been rumoured that Slot has a clause that allows him to leave Feyenoord for a fixed fee this summer.
However, De Telegraaf report that this clause doesn’t kick in until the summer of 2024.
That means Feyenoord can demand whatever they want for Slot this summer – and they probably will.
It’s stated that Slot will now cost a Dutch record to prise away from Feyenoord.
Manchester United paid less than £2million to lure Erik ten Hag from Ajax last summer but Slot will be much more expensive.
The report suggests that Slot will now cost more than the €5million (£4.4million) paid for Ronald Koeman as he left the Dutch national team to become Barcelona manager.
Tottenham face paying a record Dutch fee for Slot, which may just be worth it after being hailed as ‘the best coach in the world at the moment’ by Feyenoord star Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
Whether Daniel Levy agrees or not remains to be seen, with Tottenham facing a big decision this summer.
