Adrien Rabiot definitely won’t be joining Tottenham Hotspur it seems.

France's defender Adrien Rabiot arrives in Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines on October 2, 2017, to take part in the team's upcoming preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying football...

ESPN have reported that Adrien Rabiot has rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the belief that a transfer to Mauricio Pochettino’s side is ‘below’ him.

Le10 Sport reported in December that Tottenham were keen on the 23-year-old midfielder, but that the Paris Saint-Germain star wasn’t keen on a move to North London.

And now ESPN claim that it is because there’s a feeling inside the Frenchman’s camp that a Spurs move is beneath the player.

Rabiot, whose contract expires this summer, has been ‘indefinitely benched’ by the Ligue 1 champions after informing them that he won’t be signing an extension.

With Tottenham now seemingly out of the picture, it clears the way for Barcelona – who have denied reports of a summer deal being agreed – to push ahead with signing him.

It’s a bit of an insult for the North Londoners when you consider how far Pochettino has taken them in recent years.

Tottenham have improved remarkably under the Argentine, who has also established a reputation as being one of the best man-managers around.

Rabiot is far from the finished article and you wonder whether working under a coach like Pochettino could have been the making of him, but it seems we’ll never know.
