Tottenham Hotspur will not be signing Ajax starlet Danilo Pereira da Silva this summer with Tubantia reporting that the Brazilian has agreed a loan move to FC Twente instead.
While Mauricio Pochettino set the likes of Harry Kane, Harry Winks and Adam Lallana on the pathway to stardom during a storied managerial career in English football, it’s fair to say Jose Mourinho’s track record when it comes to putting faith in unproven youngsters is not quite as impressive.
So, for a 21-year-old with just four first-team appearances under his belt, a move to Spurs, Mourinho’s Spurs more specifically, just felt like the wrong fit right from the start.
CalcioNapoli24 reported earlier this month that the North London giants were interested in signing another highly-rated Ajax prospect with £5 million apparently enough to convince the 2019 Eredivisie champions to cash in.
But, after another prolific season with Jong Ajax in the Dutch second tier, reports in Holland claim that Danilo is on his way to FC Twente instead.

The Sao Paulo-born forward will move to Enschede on an initial one-year deal, following in the footsteps in another Ajax youngster in the shape of rampaging right-back Kik Pierie.
If Danilo can translate his remarkable goalscoring record in youth football into Twente’s first-team, who is to say Tottenham will not renew their interest in 12 months’ time?
Though if Troy Parrott cannot buy a Premier League chance under Mourinho, perhaps Spurs is not the right destination for another exciting but untested striker.
