Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are reportedly in the race to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.
Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette
According to The Mirror, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are making ‘strong pitches’ for Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette – and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp thinks London may be a factor in the race.
Lacazette, 25, has long been regarded as one of the top strikers in Europe, having become a first-team star with Lyon after coming up through the ranks with the club.
The French international hit more than 20 goals in each of the previous three seasons, and he has done it again this term having smashed 27 goals in just 32 appearances for Lyon.
However, it seems that Lacazette is ready to leave Lyon in search of a big move elsewhere at the end of the season, with three Premier League clubs allegedly making ‘strong pitches’ to sign him this summer.
The Mirror report that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all hoping to land Lacazette, as all three teams pursue attacking reinforcements.
Olivier Giroud has been in and out of the Arsenal side this term, whilst there are questions over Alexis Sanchez’s future at the Emirates Stadium too. Liverpool could look to sell Daniel Sturridge this summer, and Lacazette would be an option to offer competition for Roberto Firmino, whilst Tottenham need another goalscorer to take pressure off Harry Kane – and whilst Lacazette would fit the bill, he may just be out of Spurs’ price range.

Champions League qualification will be key to the race for Lacazette’s signature, with all three clubs looking to secure a top four place this season, but it’s claimed that Jurgen Klopp thinks other factors could be at play.
Klopp not only thinks that both Arsenal and Spurs can match any Liverpool bid, but also believes they may have an upper hand in the race, as they can offer him a move to London.
The capital is seen as an attractive location for many players, more so than Merseyside, whilst linking up with Laurent Koscielny, Mathieu Debuchy, Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin at Arsenal, or Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko at Tottenham, could be appealing to Lacazette, who will seemingly be spoilt for choice this summer.
