Tottenham though appear set to lose out on Dani Alves to Manchester City.
Tottenham Hotspur have failed in a late attempt to sign Dani Alves, according to The Sun.
Alves is on the verge of signing for Manchester City as he prepares to leave Juventus after just one season. City are hopeful the deal will go through this week.
Spurs reportedly attempted to take advantage of a delay in Alves’ move by making an offer of their own.
Juventus’ Dani Alves reacts
This could be typical game playing from Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy amid City’s move for their own right-back Kyle Walker.
Yet The Sun’s report states Spurs are genuinely concerned they will lose Kyle Walker regardless with the defender wanting to move to play for Pep Guardiola.
Tottenham are unlikely to have been able to compete with City from a wage perspective, and shouldn’t worry too much about missing out on Alves.

They have Kieran Trippier coming off a superb end to the season and also have England under-20 World Cup winner Kyle Walker-Peters waiting in the wings.
Alves is a terrific player and proven winner, but Tottenham remain strong in the position even if they lose Kyle Walker.
