Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly keen on signing the Manchester United ace.

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, Tottenham made an enquiry for Manchester United’s Juan Mata this summer – an approach that was subsequently rebuffed.
Spurs failed to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, and many are predicting that because Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t strengthened his squad, his side will struggle to finish inside the top four this season.
The Argentine does still have one of the strongest first XI’s in the top flight, however, so if all of his key men manage to remain injury-free for the majority of the campaign, Tottenham still have every chance of competing for the Champions League places.
Things could have been so different, though.

The Manchester Evening News claims that Spurs wanted to sign Juan Mata this summer, but were knocked back by Manchester United after making an enquiry for the Spaniard.
The 30-year-old obviously ended up staying at Old Trafford, and could actually face Tottenham tonight in the Premier League’s 20:00 kick-off.
