Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the 19-year-old.

LISBON, PORTUGAL - 2019

The Telegraph has reported that Tottenham Hotspur and potentially Liverpool could be interested in Benfica wonderkid Jota.

The 19-year-old attacker has broken into the Portuguese giants’ first team since the turn of the year and Tottenham personally scouted him in Thursday’s Europa League win against Dinamo Zagreb, The Telegraph claims.

The report adds that Liverpool might well be keen in luring him to Anfield, and that he will cost the Reds or Spurs around £25.6 million if he leaves this summer.

But Jota, whose contract expires in 2022, will be worth a whopping £85 million if Benfica get him to commit to a new deal, according to Portugal-based outlet A Bola.

The teenager is nowhere near being a household name yet and those figures might put him beyond the reach of the North Londoners, who will be hoping that no extension is agreed.

Liverpool and the Lilywhites will both appeal to the youngster.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is one of the best managers in the world, while Mauricio Pochettino has built a reputation for developing some of the sport’s finest young players.
