Four top Premier League clubs are chasing 14-year-old goalkeeper Conner Byrne, report The Mirror.

Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Liverpool are all interested, but Manchester United are claimed to be leading the race.

Byrne, 14, has already made his first team debut for Irish side Glenavon, and he is a Northern Ireland youth international.

The Mirror’s report claims Manchester United are ‘confident’ they can sign him, but they face competition from three of the Premier League’s big guns.

Byrne’s debut made big news last month, with BBC Sport reporting how he played all 90 minutes of a 2-1 victory.

The youngster is an exciting prospect for Northern Irish football, although it is too early to tell at this stage whether his potential will see him develop into a top superstar.

So far though, several clubs appear prepared to take a risk, and Glenavon have put him in the shop window by handing him his debut and face a real battle to keep hold of him now.
