Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with Jonas Hofmann again by Kicker

Tottenham are said to be competing with Chelsea for the right-winger, who has claimed 11 assists in the Bundesliga this season for Borussia Mochengladbach.

Spurs may well be aiming to bolster their attacking options in the summer and Hofmann is a long-term target of those.

Hofmann was heavily linked with Tottenham two years ago by Bild, interestingly when Mauricio Pochettino was first in charge.

A sign?

The rumours about Spurs rekindling their interest came out just hours after Pochettino was linked with a return in the Athletic.

It seems highly unlikely that Daniel Levy and Pochettino would have discussed potential transfer targets in their talks already.

However, the links could suggest that Levy is trying to make the move even more appealing for Pochettino.

Tottenham never provided him with the funds to go out and sign Hofmann first time around, despite his reported interest.

But it seems that things may be different this summer – if he does come back, if the latest update is anything to go by.

If Hofmann was to arrive it would also throw the futures of the likes of Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela into further doubt, as Tottenham surely wouldn’t need so many options down their right-wing.
