Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Ruben Amorim and the Sporting boss seemingly won’t be landing the Chelsea job.

That is according to The Athletic, who claim that Chelsea did hold exploratory talks with Sporting boss Amorim.

However, it’s suggested that Amorim is now unlikely to become Chelsea’s new manager.

The report claims that Amorim is happy with Sporting and seemingly isn’t planning to leave this summer.

Amorim is only 38 and has plenty of time to take the next step in his managerial career.

The Lisbon-born coach has been in charge of Sporting for three years now and has already won a league title.

Now into the last eight of the Europa League, Amorim has a good thing going at Sporting and isn’t desperate to move on.

Chelsea are seemingly pressing for Julian Nagelsmann or Luis Enrique with Amorim unlikely to be moving.

Tottenham can probably forget about Ruben Amorim too

If Chelsea aren’t getting anywhere with Amorim then it’s hard to imagine that Tottenham would fare any better.

The Guardian reported in March that Amorim is admired inside Tottenham and he would be interested in the job.

However, that suggestions wasn’t really mirrored over in Portugal.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola suggested at the end of March that Amorim has decided to snub Tottenham.

It was claimed that Amorim wasn’t keen on the idea of working with Daniel Levy and was committed to Sporting.

The second part of that certainly seems to be true with even Chelsea – who will surely have a bigger budget than Tottenham – now snubbed by Amorim.

The Portuguese coach is unlikely to change his mind any time soon and both Chelsea and Spurs are better off moving on at this point.
