Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Mateo Kovacic.
According to Marca, reported Tottenham Hotspur target Mateo Kovacic has told Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui that he wants to leave this summer.
The Telegraph reported earlier in the transfer window that the Croatia international has a long-time admirer in Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Spanish outlet AS claimed less than a month ago that Spurs were one of five clubs to have asked about signing the 24-year-old.
If the North Londoners are genuinely interested then Marca’s report on Sunday may be of interest, with the Madrid-heavy newspaper stating that Lopetegui has tried to convince Kovacic to stay in the Spanish capital but the former Inter Milan ace remains determined to leave.
The midfield star only started 10 Primera Division games under Zinedine Zidane last season, and was an unused substitute for their Champions League final win for the second season in succession.
Kovacic would be a fine addition by Tottenham. Question is, is it feasible?
According to The Daily Star, Real are demanding around £80 million for the Croat which, if true, is surely too steep for the Lilywhites, but perhaps not for Manchester City who have also entered the race.
