Tottenham Hotspur’s attempts to replace Jose Mourinho are proving quite problematic.
Ryan Mason has been put in charge of Tottenham’s senior side on an interim basis until the end of the season.
But there’s no chance of the 29-year-old staying beyond that, such is his inexperience.
And it’s been a very difficult week on the manager front for Spurs.
Brendan Rodgers publicly stated that he had no interest in taking the Tottenham job [Sky Sports], Jesse Marsch turned down the role [Kicker] to join Red Bull Leipzig, after another North London-linked coach, Julian Nagelsmann, confirmed he was off to Bayern Munich.
Today, Erik Ten Hag, heavily linked with a move to the Lilywhites, has signed a new contract at Ajax, meaning he will be staying in Amsterdam for a while longer.
And now another reported Daniel Levy target looks to be closing in on another job.
According to ESPN, former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is joining Roma and the deal is 80 percent complete.
90Min reported earlier in the week that the Italian coach had applied to be Mourinho’s successor but it would appear that Sarri – who won a Europa League title in West London in 2019 – favours a move to the Rome giants.
ESPN has added that a deal for Sarri is ‘almost complete’ and this looks set to make a dreadful week for Tottenham even worse, if he was genuinely on Levy’s shortlist.
