Report: Tottenham-linked La Liga star transfer-listed despite having a brilliant season

Securing Europa League football was an impressive achievement for Tottenham considering where they were in the table when Jose Mourinho took charge of the club.

Spurs now have to push on next season to get back in the Champions League and to achieve that, they will need a lot of help on the transfer market.

One area where Tottenham are really short is their defence. Jan Vertonghen has left the club and it looks like Danny Rose will follow him too after his fairly successful loan spell at Newcastle.

The Standard claim that Ryan Sessegnon will also be sent out on loan which leaves just Ben Davies at left full-back. Spurs have to bring in a new left-back this summer and they have been linked with a very good one.

ABC de Sevilla claimed back in April that Tottenham were rivalling Arsenal and a bunch of other clubs in the race to to sign Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon this summer.

The Spaniard spent an impressive season on loan at Sevilla and many expected him to be a part of Zinedine Zidane’s side next season.

However, Marcelo’s presence and Ferland Mendy’s impressive start at the Bernabeu has left no space for Reguilon at Real Madrid next season.

AS claim that the Galacticos have put him up for sale this summer to raise funds. Reguilon will certainly command a decent fee considering his quality and potential, and Tottenham could solve a number of problems by signing him this summer.

The Spaniard is rapid and has the ability to carry the ball from one end of the field to another. Reguilon, before the lockdown, averaged 5.34 crosses per 90 this season, the sixth-highest of any full-back in La Liga. (TFA)

That could be hugely beneficial for Spurs next season considering how good Harry Kane is inside the opponent’s box.

Defensively, pre-lockdown, the 23-year-old averaged 8.57 recoveries, 9.01 defensive duels, and 4.04 counter-pressing recoveries per 90 – incredibly aggressive numbers for a defender. (TFA)

The Spaniard would certainly be an impressive addition to Mourinho’s side this summer but Tottenham certainly won’t be the only ones interested in him now that he is transfer-listed.
