Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly monitoring the Croatian’s situation at Real Madrid.

According to Spanish media outlet AS, Spurs are lining up a summer swoop for Real Madrid ace Mateo Kovacic, although they will face stiff competition from the likes of Juventus and Manchester United in the race for his signature.
Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be keen on bolstering his central midfield options in the summer, with Mousa Dembele due to turn 31 in five months time, and the likes of Harry Winks and Victor Wanyama proving to be unreliable from a fitness perspective.

The problem for the Argentine is that his starting XI is so strong that anyone who comes into the club has to be of absolute elite quality, and in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, that doesn’t come cheap.
AS believe that the Croatia international has caught the eye of the Spurs boss, and claim that the north London outfit are preparing a summer offer for him.
Kovacic would undoubtedly be a fantastic signing for Tottenham.

He moved to the Bernabeu from Inter Milan in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £25.6 million.
The 23-year-old possesses an exceptional work-rate, combined with immaculate technique – two prerequisites for any Pochettino signing, and whilst he will certainly not come cheap, he could turn out to be a monumental addition for Tottenham, if they do in fact win the race to sign him in the summer.
