According to Sport, Tottenham are likely to sign Memphis Depay or Clement Lenglet if Sergio Reguilon joins Barcelona this summer.

What’s the story?

Well, the Spanish news outlet believe Reguilon has been offered to Barcelona, with Tottenham set to receive a Barcelona player in return.

Sport claim that Spurs are interested in signing Depay and Lenglet, so the Spanish giants may look to use that as a negotiating tactic.

Xavi is looking to replace Jordi Alba at left-back, whereas Antonio Conte needs another centre-back and also a forward.

Therefore, Sport believe the most likely scenario is a player exchange, where both sides would see their needs met.

So far this season, Depay has scored ten goals in 28 appearances.

In Lenglet’s case, he has struggled for consistency under Xavi, and is often named on the bench at the Camp Nou.

Tottenham and Barcelona should do business

In our view, a player exchange should be a no-brainer for Spurs and Barcelona this summer.

Reguilon is far from a vital player at Spurs, and Conte has recently been using Ryan Sessegnon at left wing-back anyway.

There is a much greater need to add reinforcements to the centre-back department, and also the attack, so if Spurs are offered Depay or Lenglet in exchange for the Spain international, they must accept.

Daniel Levy is not known for his spending, so this may be a shrewd way for Spurs to receive a quality player and not eat into whatever budget Conte is given.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen this summer.
