The Tottenham Hotspur hitman has just a few months remaining on his current deal.
According to a report from Football.London, Tottenham will likely take up their option to extend Fernando Llorente’s deal in the summer, but only with a view to increasing his value and then moving him on.
The 34-year-old joined Spurs from Swansea City in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth £12 million, but he has failed to impress in north London, scoring just 12 goals in 55 appearances in all competitions thus far.
Over the past 20 months, Llorente has mostly been used as Harry Kane’s deputy, and his future at Tottenham remains very much uncertain.
The Spaniard’s current contract with Spurs expires in the summer, but according to Football.London, the north London outfit will offer him a new deal at the end of this season.
Tottenham will then reportedly consider offers for the striker, having sufficiently increased his value by signing him down to said new deal.
Llorente always gives 100 per cent, but there surely wouldn’t be too many Spurs fans who would be disappointed to see him leave the club in the summer.
