According to Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur have made contact over a deal for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar – but Manchester United have now leapfrogged them.
It’s claimed that Inter want to sell Skriniar this summer, as he doesn’t quite fit in with Antonio Conte’s plans at the San Siro.
Spurs have made contact about a deal, but Inter want midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in exchange – and that move hasn’t progressed at all.
That has now given United the chance to leapfrog them in the race, with the Red Devils no ‘in the front row’ for the Slovakian.
Inter and United allegedly have ‘excellent relations’ thanks to deals involving Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young, and that could help United land Skriniar.
Inter see Skriniar as a ‘tolerable sacrifice’, aiming to sell him to bring in major money even if they won’t get the €70million (£62.5million) they wanted last summer.

The 25-year-old had emerged as one of Europe’s top centre backs with Inter, but having played just six minutes of their run to the Europa League final, he looks to be on his way out.
Spurs are in the market for a new centre back having lost Jan Vertonghen this summer, but surely won’t have the money to fund a move.
Unless Tottenham are willing to part with Ndombele, it seems unlikely that they will manage to land Skriniar – and that could lead him to Jose Mourinho’s former club in United.
