Tottenham Hotspur are currently winning a race consisting of several Premier League clubs interested in signing Peterborough starlet Leo Da Silva Lopes, according to The Sun.

The Sun reports that the Posh have accepted that they are set to lose the 17-year-old, who has been making his way through the ranks at London Road since 2013 and made his first-team debut towards the end of the 2014/15 season.

Tottenham are the favourites to land the midfielder, The Sun adds, but they face plenty of competition with Southampton, Liverpool and Arsenal all recently sending scouts to have a look at the prospect.

And they would undoubtedly have been impressed by what they saw as Lopes helped Grant McCann’s men claim a 3-1 victory over high-flying Bury.

While the four teams have all shown in recent years that they are not afraid to throw inexperienced youngsters in at the deep end if they feel they are ready, a move to White Hart Lane arguably appears to be the most attractive option currently.

Dele Alli’s emergence may resonate with Lopes as the former MK Dons man went from playing in the third tier to shining in the top flight in almost no time at all after Mauricio Pochettino showed plenty of faith in him. And the Peterborough prospect may feel that joining Spurs could give him the best chance of realising his potential.
