There was an unfamiliar name in Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-18 clash on Saturday.
A certain Charlie Sayers was named in the first XI for a game against Fulham.
Well, a lot of that team are unknown relative to, say, Harry Kane or Son Heung-min.
But there were some Tottenham fans on Twitter who highlighed the mystery man.
And it looks like he is a trialist.
According to The Echo, the Lilywhites have invited him to North London on a trial basis.
Sayers is a talented 17-year-old who has already made his senior debut for Southend United.
Who is Charlie Sayers?
Sayers is a left-back who has been making waves in United’s first team this season.
So far, he has managed six appearances for the senior oufit.
In fact, Southend boss Phil Brown labelled him ‘outstanding‘ as recently as October.
It remains to be seen whether he did enough against the Cottagers to convince Tottenham to sign him.
But the fact he played in the first place is a good indication that he’s a player and one who the North Londoners could be taking on a long-term basis.
