Kyle Walker-Peters has been forced to remain patient at Spurs.
The 21-year-old signed a new contract at Spurs less than a year ago, but Mauricio Pochettino’s outfit want to tie up the defender’s long-term future at the club with two years set to run on his current deal.
The England youth international has had to wait with Pochettino giving preference to Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier in the first team on the right side of the defence.
But Walker-Peters has managed to clock up eight senior appearances this season, after making his debut for the north Londoners in the first game of the season against Newcastle – where he picked up the man-of-the-match award.
Despite his lack of game time, both parties are locked in talks to extend the London-born star’s contract, with Pochettino believed to rate the young defender highly.
It is believed that Spurs will offer the five-time England youth international an improved offer in comparison to his current deal, in order to keep him at Wembley for years to come.
