According to Calciomercato, Tottenham are now in regular contact with Maurizio Sarri as the hunt for José Mourinho’s replacement continues.
The Italian news outlet claim that the 62-year-old would like a move to the Premier League, and specifically to London where he lived while managing Chelsea.
However, Calciomercato state that Sarri’s first choice is still Roma.
In our view, it would be extremely bold of Daniel Levy to appoint the Italian.
Sarri didn’t exactly win over the Stamford Bridge faithful during his time in west London.
Supporters often bellowed foul-mouthed chants about his brand of ‘Sarri-Ball’ before he left for Juventus after just one season.

Someone else who didn’t quite understand ‘Sarri-Ball’ was Ian Wright.
Speaking on Match of the Day back in January 2019, Wright claimed that he was ‘quite confused’ about what Sarri was trying to do.
Football London quote him as saying: “I can’t understand the game he’s playing. It looks like the games you used to play in training where there’s no goalkeeper! I don’t know what Sarri-Ball is, I’m still quite confused.”

Sarri has also been unemployed since August 2020, as he was sacked by Juventus after just one season in Turin.
He did a fantastic job with Empoli, and then with Napoli, but it would still be a brave call from Levy to hire Sarri for the aforementioned reasons.
However, the Tottenham supremo must be interested, or else he wouldn’t be in such frequent contact with the former banker.
