Iheanacho was seen as City’s back up for Sergio Aguero but his role has been minimised since Gabriel Jesus signed.
The youngster was one of the world’s most coveted teenagers after impressing at a youth tournament for Nigeria and after Manchester City won the race he quickly forced himself into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.
His future may not lie at City but they will have to be cautious about letting him leave for a team as close to contending as Tottenham for fear it damages their own chances.
