Tottenham Hotspur had believed they could land Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon in a cut price deal.
According to a report in the Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur had hoped that Ryan Sessegnon would turn down an offer of a contract extension at Fulham.
Spurs had a serious interest in snapping up Sessegnon, and felt that they could get him in a cut-price deal.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side reportedly were hopeful of completing a transfer for Sessegnon, once his contract expired, and only having to pay compensation to Fulham.
However, Sessegnon’s decision to pen a new deal at Craven Cottage has scuppered Spurs’ plan.
Sessegnon put pen to paper on a new three-year contract yesterday, which will keep him at Fulham until 2020.
And if Tottenham now want to sign the exciting talent, they will have to pay a significant amount to bring him to North London.
Fulham are known to be determined to keep hold of their key players, as they want to mount another push for promotion next term.
Sessegnon made 25 Championship appearances for Fulham last season, scoring five times.
