And the Argentine isn’t too fussed about a new deal either, according to reports from Italy.

Tottenham Hotspur and Erik Lamela are poised for a mutual parting of ways at the end of the season if reports from Italy this weekend are anything to go by.

CalcioMercato understands that the Argentine winger does not want to sign a new contract in North London, where his current deal runs until the summer of 2020.

And Spurs, who are close to signing Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain, are not currently looking to offer Lamela an extension after form and fitness difficulties.

The 25-year-old has only played 12 times for Spurs since October 2016 because of a long-standing his problem, and nine of those appearances have been as a substitute.

Tottenham do not typically allow first-team players to enter into the final two years of their contract, so face the decision of selling or keeping Lamela in the summer.

The South American has not done enough in his three-and-a-half years with Spurs to warrant the faith of a new contract, even if that was something he would consider.

All roads appear to lead to the former Roma midfielder returning to Italy for the 2018-19 campaign, with CalcioMercato claiming that there is interest from Inter Milan.
