Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Toby Alderweireld.

But the deal will only go through on one condition… if Tottenham are able to sign a replacement before the transfer deadline.
This will not be easy for Tottenham, as they will face the same challenges at this late stage of the window.
Any club they buy from will in turn want time to sign players.
Their best bet would be to target a player based abroad, from a league where the transfer window remains open until the end of the month.

Alderweireld is keen to leave Spurs after falling out of favour under manager Mauricio Pochettino last season.
He was left out of Tottenham’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United in April.
Spurs kick off their Premier League season against Newcastle on Saturday.
