Tottenham Hotspur made an interesting move in the summer, bringing in Spanish goalkeeper Pau Lopez from Espanyol on a season’s loan deal.
The move was something of a surprise considering the fact Tottenham already have two top-class keepers in their ranks.
Hugo Lloris is the club captain and an integral member of the team whilst Dutch international Michel Vorm is a happy back-up option who could walk into the starting XI of most Premier League teams.
Lopez, who Mauricio Pochettino knew from his time in charge at Espanyol, has therefore struggled to play regular football at Spurs.
The 22-year-old Spaniard has in fact not featured at all for Spurs. He is yet to make a first-team appearance for the London club and has only been named on the bench five times.
Now, a report in Spain is claiming that Tottenham may have to pay a penalty fee if they fail to give Lopez any first-team football this season.

Diario as is reporting that Spurs will be liable for a €500,000 (£434,000) payment to Espanyol if Lopez does not play for the club this season.
Tottenham, according to the report, have the option to buy Lopez in the summer for a fee of €7 million (£6 million). But with Lopez unlikely to feature for Spurs before the end of the campaign it is likely that fee may rise.
