Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in the Borussia Mönchengladbach defender, but they are some way off reaching the asking price.

According to Bild, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Matthias Ginter, but they are well short of the price-tag required to sign the Borussia Mönchengladbach centre-back.

Spurs have registered their interest in the German international, and they are willing to pay £32 million to sign him.

However, Dortmund want £55 million which may well put Ginter out of Tottenham’s price-range.

Ginter is naturally a centre-back, but his ability to play at right-back too could appeal to Spurs.

Ginter could cover in two positions in defence, and Tottenham are particularly short at right-back.

Kieran Trippier’s departure means that there is now a gap in their squad which may need to be filled, and Ginter would be able to plug that void.

Tottenham are always a side to drive a hard bargain though, and unless Gladbach lower their asking price the transfer looks very unlikely.

Tottenham have made just two signings so far this summer, with Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke snapped up.
