Southampton and Swansea City had been linked with a move for the England Under-21 international.
Tottenham Hotspur are reluctant to grant Kyle Walker-Peters a loan move this January as they feel he is still needed in North London, according to The London Evening Standard.
The 20-year-old full-back is highly rated at Spurs but has only made six appearances this season, and none in the Premier League since his debut on the opening day of the campaign.
The most recent of those outings – a difficult 45 minutes against Newport County in the FA Cup on Saturday – proved that the youngster needs more experience of first-team football.
Standard Sport understands that Walker-Peters is keen to leave Tottenham temporarily this month to get that exposure, but that Spurs want him to stay and provide full-back cover.
The England Under-21 international is able to operate on both flanks and Spurs currently have injury concerns over Serge Aurier and Danny Rose, who has not played since Boxing Day.
According to The Sun, Southampton wanted to take Walker-Peters on loan for the rest of the season, but he would likely have performed the same sort of back-up role at St Mary’s Stadium.
If Spurs do not find a suitable loan move for Walker-Peters before the transfer deadline, then they would need to reconsider their stance in the summer before his development stagnates.
