Chelsea are reportedly close to completing the signing of Antonio Candreva.

According to the Mirror, Premier League champions Chelsea are close to completing the signing of Inter Milan winger Antonio Candreva.

The report claims that Antonio Conte, the Chelsea manager, has given his approval for the move, and the player would leave San Siro for around £25 million.

The Chelsea boss has been reportedly chasing Candreva all summer, and has previously worked with him during his stint as manager of the Italian national team.

The news would come as a blow for Tottenham, who were also reportedly interested in signing the 30-year-old.

Back in July, reports from Tuttomercatoweb claimed that Spurs were tracking Candreva and were interested in signing him.

Candreva is mainly a winger, but can fill multiple positions (including wing back role) and could have been a good replacement for Kyle Walker, who joined Manchester City this summer.

While an experienced player like him would have added value to the side, Spurs probably would never have paid that amount for a player in the 30’s.

Candreva is an experienced campaigner, who is reaching the twilight of his career, and does not fit the profile of a usual Pochettino signing.
