Serie A giants AC Milan refused to sell Suso to Spurs in the summer but Pochettino still hopes to bring the former Liverpool winger to the Premier League.

Suso of AC Milan looks on during the Serie A match between AC Milan and SSC Napoli at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on January 21, 2017 in Milan, Italy.

The £44 million release clause in Suso’s new contract at AC Milan does not appear to have dashed Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of bringing the former Liverpool winger back to the Premier League.

Calciomercato report that Spurs have continued to scout Suso in the opening weeks of the new Serie A season. This is despite the fact that the ink is not yet dry on a new deal signed until 2022 last month.

The report adds that Spurs had a bid of around £20.5 million rejected in the summer as Milan were determined to hang onto a player who took his game to a new level in 2016/17. Suso has emerged as arguably the standout player at the Rossineri despite the Italian giants spending over £200 million reinforcing their squad in the summer.

Suso, a left footed attacking midfielder who is most at home cutting in from the left, scored seven goals and assisted another nine in Serie A last season. He has three goals in seven league starts in 2017/18 too.

And, if the former Spain Under-21 international did make the move to North London, it would represent an opportunity for Suso to prove that he can make the grade in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old made his senior bow for Liverpool back in 2012 but made just 20 further appearances for the Anfield giants before being allowed to leave for Milan when his contract expired.

Liverpool’s loss, however, could be Spurs’ gain if they are willing to trigger the release clause in Suso’s contract.
