Report: Tottenham Hotspur still most interest in Ross Barkley, but he’s open to Manchester United move

Tottenham Hotspur have been tracking Everton midfielder for much of the summer so far.

According to The Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur still hold the firmest interest in signing Everton’s Ross Barkley this summer.

Manchester United have emerged as contenders to land Barkley, and could make a move.

Barkley is said to be open to the idea of moving to Old Trafford, but at the moment Spurs still seems his most likely option.

Mauricio Pochettino is keen to bring the attacking midfielder to North London, but complications still exist.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has suggested that Barkley will definitely move on in the coming weeks, but he has limited options.

Tottenham have a strong interest in the 23-year-old, but are loathed to pay his wage demands.

Barkley wants around £100,000-a-week, which would make him one of Spurs’ top earners, and there is apparently a reluctance to do a deal unless he drops his salary demands.

Barkley wouldn’t be guaranteed a starting place if he signed for Spurs, but Pochettino is believed to be very keen to snap up the England international.
