Premier League giants Manchester United and Everton have also been credited with interest in the Bolton Wanderers youngster, which has reportedly sparked Tottenham Hotspur into action.

Tottenham Hotspur have ‘stepped up their interest’ in Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jake Turner, The Sun on Sunday reports (August 6, page 64).

Tottenham are said to have sent scouts to Turner’s last two games, after hearing that Manchester United are also keen on the 18-year-old.

The Londoners are thought to be seeking reinforcements in goal, after seeing Pau Lopez return to Espanyol and letting Luke McGee sign for Portsmouth on a permanent basis.

And Turner, who has been capped by England at under-18 level, could be ideal back-up for Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm in the short-term.

The Cheshire native, who has also been linked with a move to Everton (The Sun on Sunday), is yet to play competitively for Bolton’s first team but is under contract until 2019 at the Macron Stadium.

With less than a week to go until the new Premier League season Tottenham remain the only top flight side not to have made a signing during the summer transfer window.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has, however, been strongly linked with a move for his former Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga this past week (The Sun).

Would Bolton’s Turner be a good signing for Tottenham Hotspur?
