The two clubs are still to agree on the timing of the payments, but this is a crucial step forward in negotiations, with the total price tag reaching £42 million, a record transfer for Spurs.
Sanchez was not included in Ajax’s squad for their Europa League qualifier this evening against Rosenborg.
Spurs have been linked to the defender since last week, and he missed their weekend game with Heracles.
The Colombian international signed for Ajax just one year ago from Nacional and played a crucial role in the club reaching the final of the Europa League.
He will link up with former Ajax stars Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen at Tottenham when he signs.
