Toby Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham is in doubt.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking for just 50 million Euros for Toby Alderweireld, report Belgian website HLN.

The fee works out at just £44 million.

Alderweireld’s contract expires in 2019, leaving Tottenham needing to cash in this summer if they cannot agree an extension.

Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham Hotspur reacts during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on October 22, 2017 in London, England.

Alderweireld wants a wage increase which Tottenham are currently unprepared to meet.

The Belgian is among their star players, but he has been out injured since October and despite a wobble in early to mid December, their form has held up.

If Tottenham did have to cash in on Alderweireld, they should really be setting their sights higher than £44 million.

He may be 29 and have only one year left on his deal, but Virgil van Dijk’s £75 million switch to Liverpool has set the bar high for centre-backs.

Alderweireld is among Europe’s very best, and if Tottenham can wait until after the World Cup, they could well see his value rise.
