It has been reported that for Tottenham to sign Chelsea attacker Willian on a free transfer this summer, they will have to sell players first to free up wages.
The report has claimed that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will sanction a move for the £120,000-a-week Brazil international – who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – only if players are sold first.
According to The Daily Star, Lamela, who can also play as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, is the most likely to be sold, with Spurs ready to listen to offers of £20 million.
Loss
Tottenham’s reported stance on Lamela means that the North London outfit are willing to take a £5.8 million hit on the Argentina international.
According to The Guardian, Spurs paid AS Roma an initial transfer fee of £25.8 million to sign the former River Plate star in the summer of 2013.
Stats
According to WhoScored, Lamela has made 10 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Spurs this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process.
The Argentine also scored one goal and provided two assists in five Champions League games for Spurs this campaign, according to WhoScored.
